Throughout all forms of social media in today's age, there is too much discourse being shared without a way of sifting through what is true or what is false. That was until Elon Musk purchased what is formally known as Twitter, now rebranded to X, and added what is called 'Community Notes.' Community Notes are a way for X users to be able to decipher whether the post they're viewing is true or not. If the post is factual, there will be no changes to the post. However, if the app detects that there was false information presented, the post will remain as it is but there will be a note at the bottom of the post addressing exactly what was being falsely presented. I love this addition to social media, because there were times I would scroll for hours and unknowingly be viewing completely false information and thinking its fact, leading me to be misinformed. Now with community notes on X, I can confidently scroll through the app without the worry of believing false information. In addition, users are able to rate whether the Community Note was helpful or not, as the app uses AI to detect false information, user feedback is vital to the success of these notes.
Below is an example of Community Notes as seen on the X platform, the post remains as intended by its creator, while giving other users a notice that the information being presented is not correct.
